Just a couple of thoughts I wanted to share about my experience with the new HomeFront game by THQ. This is only my opinion and it applies only to the PC version of the game… I just can’t get myself to play an FPS on the Xbox 360 or the PS3.

Pros

A new take on an old genre… Fighting takes place in the States.

Most of the battles were pretty epic.

Plethora of different firearms.

Vehicle/Air missions help add variety.

Cons

Performance was inconsistent, I would have random pops and clicks from the audio, and the game would also stutter pretty badly resulting in a few lag deaths.

No Demo? There should at least be a MP demo or something… it’s a bit ridiculous not to include one.

Single Player was extremely short… took me somewhere between 3-4 hours to beat.

Even though there were a lot of weapons to choose from, they didn’t feel or shoot very differently.

Conclusion
It was pretty fun… I love a good FPS and it was nice to see an FPS based in the States where you play a US insurgent. The controls felt pretty good, and the mixture of vehicle and air missions was much needed. However, this is not a $50 dollar game, it was short, glitchy, and there was no demo. I’d say it’s worth somewhere around $30.

If you’ve seen the trailer of Black Prophecy you know that the music playing is pretty intense. Well now you can download that music for free.

Quote – Dynamedion worked with Reakktor in the development of the soundtracks used for Black Prophecy, if you have watched the two official trailers then you will have heard some of Dynamedion’s work. Reakktor also contracted Dynamedion to work on their previous MMO, Neocron 2.

You can download the mp3 and read the full story.

IMHO – The track is awesome, it reminds me of the lord of the rings soundtrack. I just wish they had given us more than 2 minutes worth.

Terminator Salvation however looks decent, I really hope the gameplay is up to par with games we have today. It reminds me of Gears of War which I really enjoyed. The game is set to be released 2 days before the movie on May 19th.

I’m trying to get a copy of this game as you read this, I’m a huge fan of sim games, but I’m not a great fan of the KA-50. Being an American I really would love to fly the Apache. I’m sure someone will, if not already, make a Apache mod for it. Check out the video below, Glowing Amraam could make me want to buy a carebear video game with the way the make their vids.

One of my favorite things to do on a nice saturday morning is have a nice fresh cup of coffee and watch some game trailers. And boy do I have some good ones for you today. Maybe you’ve heard of a little game called Bioshock, well they’re making a second one and they posted up some gameplay today. Wow it looks awesome. Release date for Bioshock 2 is November 30th, 2009. I hope I can wait that long.

The next Video is a new fresh rendition of Ghostbusters for the PC, Xbox360, Wii, PS3, PS2, Nintendo DS with a release date of June 16, 2009. It looks fun, I just hope they throw in some nice old school GB tunes and voices, the gameplay looks enticing enough. Watch the guy playing the game, he really shakespeares it up for you at the end.

Last but not least, Black Prophecy. I think this will be one of my most anticipated games of 2009. The last space flight game I remember playing was Star Wars X Wing on a 486pc. I am ready for a new one, and with the ability to play online and create teams!! I signed up for the beta so keep your fingers crossed for me. I have yet to ever get accepted for a game beta. Release date is slated for Q1 2009, so by my calculations they’re late.

I am a noob. This is my tool ever created. It’s a weird feeling. Anyway, I made this little program using Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition. I made this tool because the Zune sucks for listening to Audio books. It won’t bookmark the place you were last listening to like it does for Podcasts. I found that if you change the Genre Tag of your audiobook mp3 files to Podcast it will treat your audio files as a podcast and bookmarking will work. The next problem is that, on the zune, Podcasts do not get sorted by Track number, they get sorted by their Date created. So usually all your audio book files would be all out of whack in the zune podcast section. This tool automatically decrements the creation date of a group of selected files, therefore sorting your files correctly.

More info on Zune Audio book Bookmarking here.

Please give it a try and leave me a comment if you like. It is my first program ever in VB, but I do plan on improving the tool and also adding a feature to automatically change the mp3 files genre from audio book to podcast. As of now you have to use a program like tag and rename to change the genre to podcast.

-Version History .2-
Changed program to work on 32bit systems.

-Version History .1-
Added Auto genre change of mp3 ID3V2 tags to “Podcast”.
Added Message box showing number of files processed.
Added Only allowed to edit *.mp3 files.

Download Tool – audiobook2podcast

Oh PS it was made on a Windows 7 x64 machine.

Disclaimer – Use this software at your own risk, I can not be held resposible if you accidently change the dates your porn was downloaded.

Microsoft has put up some instructions in preparation for their Windows 7 RC release (build 7100?). Technically you won’t be able to upgrade from a pre 7100 build to the RC. MS really wants you to upgrade from Vista or do a clean install so they can collect real world data on their install procedures. They did however offer some advice if you Really Really Really Need to upgrade from a pre 7100 build version to the RC. They list a way to backup all your current user settings using Windows Easy Transfer and also hacking one of their install ini files to allow a pre 7100 build to RC upgrade.

Definitely bookmark this post if your upgrading for a pre 7100 build as you will need it no doubt.
